Langley Cribbage League History
The Langley Cribbage League was established in 1922 with two Teams, Langley and Milner.
The Langley Team was started by the late Dr. McBurne and the Milner Team got its start with the late Mr. Fox.
Quick expansion followed with Teams from Aldergrove, Murrayville and Sperling.
Stewardship of the league was handled by Murrayville Team founder P.Y. Porter as President until 1978.
Play was suspended in the Spring of 1940 with the start of the Second World War and did not resume until the Fall of 1946 with the expansion of the League with Teams from the Langley Legion and Brown-Otter.
In 1978 Bob Harrower of Murrayville took on the role of League President where he remained until 1993 when Milner Team captain Frank Braun stepped in, relinquishing the Chair in 2008.
Vice-President Monty DeMontezuma assumed the role of President in 2008 and continues as Chair to date.
Over the course of the Langley Cribbage League history Teams came and went with the folding of the Teams from Aldergrove, Sperling and Brown-Otter and the emergence of Teams from Fort Langley, Harmsworth and Willoughby.
As well, there was some periodic Inter-League play with Teams from Delta and New Westminster.
